ArahWeave is a CAD/CAM software for dobby and jacquard.weaving.
Arah WeaveFor doing jacquard, CAD is a production necessity, not a designer's toy. There are two main types of jacquard machines: mechanical and electronic. ArahWeave will generate 3.5" floppies in the desired electronic jacquard format. So you go straight from CAD to production. If your jacquard is equipped with TCP/IP network card, we can connect looms and CAD into a network. If you have old mechanical jacquards, you will need to have access to an electronic card-punching machine, which accepts floppies with jacquard data. In dobby fabric production, weave is much smaller, so in most cases, it is acceptable to punch the dobby cards manually. We also support electronic dobby machines, warpers and drawing-in machines. ArahWeave will enable you to make realistic fabric simulations, based on the technical data that you will enter (weave, warp/weft pattern, density, etc.). You will be able to print out simulations and send them to your client for confirmation, and actually sell the fabric before it will be woven. This is a reality in shirting, but in production of dark menswear fabrics, simulation will be nothing but black on black (but so is the fabric). Nevertheless, you can use other features like centering of warp, consumption calculation, blanket preparation, etc. If you avoid a couple of design errors, or reduce sampling by 30%, you will begin earning money with a CAD in less than a year. Not to mention the reduced response time to the customer and higher productivity in the preparation of technical documentation.
Dobby and jacquard are so different, why squeeze them into a single product? To save money. Ours in development, and yours in purchase and training. Besides, dobby and jacquard are not so different as one might judge from looking at the loom. Basically, just the size of the weave is different, and the mechanism to lift warp threads. Then, we have all the same problems of yarns, colors, consumption calculation, fabric simulation, etc. We have introduced jacquard in such a way, that it will not confuse customers who are doing only dobby. We also had jacquard requests from dobby customers, like x-large weaves or float correction. The opposite also occurred: jacquard customers wanted centering of design on full fabric width, and easy handling of color variations, as it is present in blanket management. Now they all have the best of both worlds. Due to its dual dobby / jacquard nature, ArahWeave can do things which are impossible on other CAD systems: prepare a dobby and jacquard CAM information from a single file, for special loom setups where you combine dobby for the ground, and small jacquard heads for inlaid sections, which contain writings or logos. |
