ArahPaint4
Is a paint program included with the jacquard edition of ArahWeave. It is also freely downloadable in the demo version of ArahWeave from this site, and ArahPaint4 is fully functional.
- ArahPaint4 has all the normal tools that you would expect in a paint program. It can draw pictures with up
to 256 colors or in true color mode (16 millions of colors, 24-bits per pixel).
- Supported graphical formats in loading: PNG, GIF, PBM/PGM, PCX, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, all jacquard formats, ArahWeave weave format.
- Supported graphical formats in saving: PNG, JPG, TIFF.
- It supports sophisticated methods of motif placement and repeat constructions: protected and transparent colors, offsets in X and Y, mirrors, centering, rotations...
- ArahPaint program can automatically detect a repeat in a scanned image, or
recognize a scanned weave of any grid size.
- Smart drawing of repeat patterns - specify the type of repeat (halfdrop, mirror, etc.) and draw in repeat, across borders!
- Special functions for working with contours - thinning, thickening, pruning, contour removal, add contour, isolated spots removal, averaging
- Special functions for textile extra warp/weft or fil coupe design - count colors vertically or horizontally
- Horizontal or vertical ikat effect
- Vertical color histogram to evaluate relative color percentage according to the picutre
- Automatic or user controlled color reduction: either specify the number of colors to which you want to reduce the image, or manually point to colors that
you want to keep. Threshold for grayscale to black and white color reduction
with interactive preview!
- Special functions like transparent colors in copying/pasting/moving of motif and protected colors.
- You can rotate image with contours and keep them connected. In this way you can fill areas of rotated motif, without the color leaking out through holes caused by poor rotation.
- Maximum image size 65520x65520, limited by the memory of your computer
- Text drawn in ArahPaint4 will respect warp/weft density.
- Ruler in centimeters/inches or pixels
- Zoom out the image in repeat to see if it your motifs are balanced, or they create unwanted lines
- Use functions to count number of colors or look at the histogram to discover the areas of uneven color distribution
- Insert or remove areas horizontally or vertically, on straight line or across curve to avoid cutting the motifs. It was never easier to lengthen or shorten your pictures, while keeping the repeat.
- Printing in repeat with preview
- Support for layers
- Unlimited undo/redo
The main window of ArahPaint has the toolbar on the right:
The most important feature of a jacquard picture editor is the ability
to draw in zoom with user specifiable zoom factor and x/y grid ratio. The
x/y ratio depends on the size of repeat, which you can set in mm,
dpi, or simply enter the density of the fabric. You can zoom in and out of the picture during drawing operations!
And it is also wonderful to be able to specify complicated repeats, including
mirrors and simply draw across the border of repeat.
Integrated image browser
It is much easier to find your images for editing with the use of a graphical image browser. We have some features to cheer up the textile users:
- icon can be in repeat
- icon can show number of actually used colors
- program will show icon automatic icon preview of all image types and jacquard weave/card files
- if image is drawn with different density in x and y direction, the icon will still be correct.
- images can be sorted by name, type, image size, file size, type, number of used colors
- you can even display all images in all subdirectories within current directory
- and did we mention that it is FAST, and that it won't crash if you browse a directory with 80000 images?
