3,314 New Chinese Weaves Added to ArahWeave’s Library
Arahne has completed a unique summer project: the full digitization of 黑白经纬织物组织设计图集 下册 (Atlas of Black‑and‑White Warp and Weft Fabric Weave Design, Volume II) by Shen Gan (沈干). This book, published in 2005 and long out of print, is considered one of the most comprehensive collections of black‑and‑white weave structures in Chinese textile literature.
The book contains 3,314 individual weaves, each meticulously drawn and organized. Because the book is no longer available on the market, accessing its content has been difficult for designers, researchers, and weaving mills outside China. To preserve this valuable resource and make it accessible to modern weaving workflows, Arahne digitized every weave from the volume. Each structure was carefully converted into ArahWeave’s digital format, checked for accuracy, and integrated into the software’s growing weave library.
With these newly added 3,314 weaves, ArahWeave now offers one of the largest curated digital weave collections available in any textile CAD/CAM system. The new additions enrich the library with:
- Traditional Chinese weave structures
- Rare patterns not found in Western publications
- A broad spectrum of dobby and jacquard‑friendly designs
More information about the book is available here.
All ArahWeave users with a valid support contract will receive the new weaves by E-mail.
